I have a question. It's easy to see how the halftones for CMYK create the color, but how is it there are large swatches of "flat color" such as the red of the cape or the blue of the shirt? Were those printed as "spot colors"? It seems adding a plate for a spot color would not be cost effective back in the day, specially since they were printed so cheaply. Anyone have an insight?
