I accidentally had the "unsharp mask" filter turned on when I scanned these. I always scan for 4CP with the filters turned off, which results in a true image of the printed page, but which also reveals the photographic limitations of my flatbed scanner; the paper grain becomes blurry at a certain point, no matter how high I have the resolution cranked. However, the "unsharp mask" seems to have extrapolated detail up to the full resolution of the scan, which results in an interesting look.
