4CP | Four Color Process

Artist Andrew Wales has completed a massive watercolor of a 4CP image. The source material was 1.2 x 0.8 inches; the painting is almost 2 x 3 feet. Andrew has written about the painting and his interest in making it on his blog, which features a diverse collection of his work. To me, this painting is a logical extension of what happens when you blow up four color process. The larger it gets, the less "mechanical" it  looks. Thank you for sharing this, Andrew.

HiLobrow has begun a weekly series of curated selections from the 4CP gallery, with a different person picking the images each week. The first, by Joshua Glenn, is titled The Lonely Crowd. Thanks, HiLobrow!

The 4CP gallery will be one year old on May 1, and it now contains nearly 300 images. The blog seems to have become, accidentally, the only repository of its kind. Exactly what it documents is an open question, but I think that it is as "finished" as it will ever be at this point.

I never would have predicted that it would become as popular as the Comic Book Cartography gallery, or that I would pursue it to the extent that I have. It has been a real pleasure, largely because there were enthusiastic people out there who made themselves known. I took it more seriously because they did. I'm grateful for that. Thank you.
